The Alpha QX hockey stick from Warrior is one of the more popular sticks in hockey. It is also one of the more expensive ones available. So, my question for the quality of the hockey stick was, “Is this stick worth the money?” The first thing I noticed about the stick when I first got it was how light it was. Any top-of-the-line stick should be extremely light but holding it felt like nothing. When weighed, the Alpha QX it was approximately 410 grams, so before I got on the ice, I already felt pretty good about its performance.

The shot was unreal. With a hockey stick, there are low kicks and mid kicks. A mid kick typically takes longer to get a shot off, but it gives you more power and a low kick is typically the opposite. The QX has a low-to-mid kick, which is when the stick flexes in the low to mid area of the stick. That gives it a hard and fast shot. My favorite part was how well I could feel the puck on the ice.  Another unique feature is the “Sabre Taper,” which is a fancy word for shape. The saber taper is a trapezoid-type shape of the shaft.

It felt pretty good in my hands and I liked how much control I had with it. The taper really didn’t feel like anything else I had ever used before. The last feature that is supposed to be game-changing is the “Minimus Carbon 1000,” which helps you always feel the puck. That is the material that it is made out of. Warrior had said that this material is 40% lighter than a traditional carbon stick and even stronger.

Overall, I loved the stick. If someone is willing to spend the money, then it is a great investment if they are serious about what they are using on the ice. The only bad part about the stick is how expensive it is.
