When it comes to music it always helps to think about what the artist is trying to get across. In the video “Time”, it shows the story of a couple is going back through their rough times to the good times. They start out being distant, she is seen packing her clothes, we see them in the same bed together and things begin getting better from there. At one point in time that they were in love. They were putting pictures on the walls together, as they had obviously moved in together recently. It looks like we see them actually meeting together for the first time as the whole video is played backward. No relationship is going to be perfect, so it’s best to not take anything for granted. Cherish the happy times and try to forget the bad.

“Even if we both break down tonight, and you say you hate me, and we go to bed angry. I know everything will be alright. I’ll be here waiting. I promise I’m changing. I just need…”

This is a testament to a strong relationship, “I know everything will be alright. I’ll be here waiting,” In relationships, not everything will be all good and happy. There will almost always be ups and downs to the relationship. No one is perfect and we don’t live in a perfect world due to society. The best thing that we can do in a situation like this is to hope and wait for the best.

“A little time to show you I’m worth it. I know that I can be a difficult person. I’m a stress case, drive you up the wall when I’m workin’. Actually, I’m probably worse when I’m not. You don’t deserve it. Make you nervous ’cause you know Imma break soon.”

NF is talking about his personal health. It’s tough on both of them. He writes these songs for a reason. Not just to tell his life but to show others that he is just like everyone else. No one is perfect. He wants to be known for the raw verses he writes and he wants his works to be relatable. Like NF, we deal with our personal problems along with other problems on a daily basis. When it comes to showing worth it’s going to take time to see it.

“Every time I do, I say somethin’ that hurts you. Actin’ like I’m gone but we both in the same room. I don’t like to be wrong, which I know you relate to.”

He knows that she also can relate to him because she is like him in a way or more. Everyone is afraid to mess up at some point. No one wants to be put in that spot of being the one at fault.

“I’m the definition of “wreck” if you look into my soul. It comes out the most when I feel I’m in a vulnerable place. Made a lot of mistakes, I wish I knew how to erase. When I’m afraid it might get distant and I push you away. But no matter the case, I’ma do whatever it takes,”

NF is implying the strength of his relationship and his dedication to her. He believes that this is not the end of the relationship. NF sees his mistakes and is willing to change it. When it comes to relationships you have to be willing to fix what is wrong in order to have a good strong and healthy relationship. Where there is a problem there is always a solution. It is always best when both partners see each other’s vulnerability and are willing to help one another.

“I just need time,”

Emotions take over and you just need time to relax and think for a moment. He just needs time to think and to fix his mistakes. I feel like this is talking about his relationship with his now-wife. He’s taking a step back and analyzing his emotions for the most part. We all need time to slow down and reflect on what all we have done and especially if there is something that needs to be fixed.
