The Jacket Swarm student section is known for doing amazing things. When it comes to outfits, props, traditions, and supporting school sports the jacket swarm is on top of it. On this year’s home opener against the Marshfield Blue Jays, the swarm came ready.

Since everyone was ready for it to be raining threes, they prepared by bringing umbrellas. When a three point shot was made the umbrellas would go up. This was something new to the swarm and something that will stick around.

Senior swarm member, Mason DeVasure, brought an umbrella to the game. “I liked the umbrellas at the game. It made it enjoyable. I think we are starting a trend and other schools will eventually ride the wave, too,” DeVausre said.

“It was wet at the game. We needed to bring the umbrellas and cover ourselves,” said senior swarm member Hunter Hughes.

The basketball players liked it too. Senior basketball player, Ethan Christal, enjoyed the umbrellas. “They were very colorful and amusing.”

Quenton Shelton, 12, was one of the few to unleash the umbrella’s after hitting a couple three’s.

“I didn’t really see them, I heard about it and it was cool,” said Shelton.

The swarm definitely started something that will last the season and make memories. The boys basketball team is back home in January, and it will be with a high chance of rain.

The Jackets defeated Marshfield 68-57 in the contest.
