Many times when someone sees a Christian cheerleader in high school, they think of someone who is joyful and fun to be around. This is because they find their true joy in others, and in the Lord. Many people struggle with finding where true joy comes from.

High schoolers believe it is fun to get drunk or high. I get told quite often that I am missing out on so much when I do not participate in these activities. People say they are at their happiest when they do all of these things to themselves. Although they find joy in those things, I find joy in my friends, family, and most importantly the Lord.

It may seem very unreal to be able to find joy in these things, but it is very possible. When people are finding joy in substance things it is only temporary lasting them a little amount of time. On the other hand, finding joy within the Lord is everlasting.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope,” Romans 15:13.

People think God will not fulfill them with what they need or want. When we do not physically see or feel the joy that we want, we think that God is not trying to help us. In time God will do with us what he wants, and feels is right in our lives.

Many people would say it is impossible to find joy in something that can not be seen. Even though people can not see God, it does not mean he is not alive and with them at all times.

Seeing is not believing, believing is seeing. This means seeing the little things that God is constantly doing things for us. When we wake up with a warm home, and clean running water it is a gift that God has given us. I find joy in the promises found within the bible. We have to believe that God will keep his promises, and never fail us.

Joy does not come from getting drunk, or high if people get joy from these things it is only temporary. That is why I put my joy in the only thing that’s everlasting, my love for Jesus.

Lovely message, don’t submit to drugs and such to ride off of such thrills.
Too bad religious propaganda had to be shoved in there as well.
It is possible for somebody to find other sources of entertainment without Sky Daddy.

    Esmeralda,

We welcome you to submit a Letter to the Editor if you have an issue on which you would like to offer your unique perspective. We here at The Jacket strive to remain impartial in our news reporting. That being said, articles under the Opinion subheading are just that; they do not represent the opinions of The Jacket staff and should be considered the opinion of the contributor. If those of you reading those articles have a dissenting opinion or want to offer your unique perspective on a topic of importance to the LHS community, you are more than welcome to submit a letter representing your perspective, with the caveat that your dialogue must remain cordial, respectful and constructive. We know that no one opinion will represent the entirety of the student body at LHS. Therefore, we hope that the “Opinion” page will be a tool for facilitating conversations and navigating the confusing world and times in which we live. We hope that The Jacket can be a place where everyone at Lebanon High School can gather to educate themselves about the goings-on in our community and world. The Jacket Staff will review all letters thoroughly and post all opinions as long as they meet our standard of being cordial, respectful and constructive. If you submit a letter then you consent to having your name listed as the contributor. If you wish to remain anonymous then please state that at the beginning of the letter. We do ask that you always put your name in the name field (even if you wish to remain anonymous). We will protect our sources, but we will not published unattributed letters as we can not verify their authenticity.
