James Arthur is a new up and coming artist from Britain. Arthur won the ninth season of the X Factor giving him his start. Since then he has had a few other popular songs. These include his most popular works “Say You Won’t Let Go” and “Can I Be Him”.

Arthur is known for his simple acoustic sound in many of his songs. His new song is no excption to that acoustic vibe. However, “Empty Space” offers more of an electric sound with its main guitar being electric.

The song also contains prominent bass and drum sounds.  Although the more prominent electric guitar exists it still sits on an easy acoustic style. Because of this, the song still grabs listeners with the James Arthur sound.

“Empty Space” starts off with a simple guitar pattern, then picks up with e-drums and bass. The song is an interesting mix of big band sound and one man sound. The chorus breaks down to the sound of just an acoustic guitar giving listeners that typical sound. There are also choruses with a big full band sound creating a slightly different sound for Arthur.

This song is also a very simple 3 chord song. Which allows for a simple melody that catches the listeners ears and stays in their head.

Overall I would say this is a very good song. It is strongly produced. There was not much thought put into the chords but rather the thought is in the words. It keeps a simple melody throughout the song. However, it is still very thought out and is catchy.
